REWARDS, BENEFITS, AND VIRTUES OF RECITING THE QURAN

Quran is the 4th and last sacred Holy Book of Almighty Allah. Quran is the Book of guidance for the whole of mankind. It was revealed to our beloved Prophet (S.A.W) who is the last Prophet of Allah Almighty. Quran is the Divine book towards which Muslims turn when there is any problem because Quran has the solution to every problem and it is guidance for every aspect of life.

Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) said: خيركم من تعلم القرآن و علمه

“The best of you are those who learn the Qur’an and teach it.” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

In another narration reported by (Sayyidatina Aishah R.A)

من قرأ حرفا من كتاب الله فله به حسنة و الحسنة بعشرة أمثالها لا أقول الم حرف ولكن ألف و لام حرف و ميم حرف

“Whoever recites a letter from Allah’s Book, then he receives the reward from it, and the reward of ten the like of it. I do not say that Alif Lam Mim is a letter, but Alif is a letter, Lam is a letter and Mim is a letter.” (Sunah At-Tirmizi).

Sayidatina Aishah (R.A) reported again Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) said:

الذي يقرأ القرآن و هو ماهر به مع السفرة الكرام البررة , و الذي القرآن و يتتعتع فيه و هوعليه  شاق له أجران

“The one who is proficient in the recitation of the Qur’an will be with the honorable and obedient scribes (angels), and he who recites the Qur’an and finds it difficult to recite, doing his best to recite it in the best way possible, will have two rewards.” (Sahih Al-Bukhari & Muslim).

Indeed, the Book of Allah is a book like NO other, It is the timeless Speech of Allah, and the study guide for life, death, and what comes after. Therefore it deserves a more careful study. So, as Muslims, we should always seek to learn the teachings and recite Quran daily with better understanding so we can earn Allah’s blessings in this life and the hereafter.
